Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
- 1/4 cup honey
- 3 tablespoons ketchup
- 2 tablespoons lightly salted soy sauce
- 2 cloves garlic, minced (about 1 tablespoon)
- 1/4 tsp chili flakes (optional)
- 8 chicken drumsticks (about 1 kg), with skin
- 2 tsp Chinese 5-spice seasoning
- 3 green onions, thinly sliced
- Steamed white rice (for serving)
Preparation:
- In a medium bowl, combine hoisin, honey, ketchup, soy sauce, garlic, and chili flakes. Rub the drumsticks on all sides with Chinese five-spice seasoning, 1 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon black pepper.
- Place the chicken in a 6-quart slow cooker and pour the sauce over it, then stir to coat the drumsticks. Cook over low heat until the chicken is very tender when pierced with a knife and the sauce has thickened slightly, about 4 hours. Transfer the drumsticks and sauce to a bowl, sprinkle with green onions, and serve with rice.
