Coffee Banana Foster

Ingredients:

  • 2 bananas, unripe, cut in half lengthwise
  • 3 tbsp (45 g) butter
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons banana liqueur
  • 2 tbsp dark rum
  • 2 tablespoons coffee liqueur
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 950 ml vanilla ice cream

Preparation:

  1. Place the butter in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat. Once melted, add the bananas. Fry for 1 minute on each side and remove from the pan.
  2. In the same saucepan, add sugar and pour in the banana liqueur, dark rum, and coffee liqueur. Let it simmer gently for 2 minutes. Tilt the saucepan on its side to ignite the alcohol vapors. When the flames die down, add orange juice, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Simmer for 3-5 minutes until the desired consistency is reached.
  3. Return the bananas to the saucepan and drizzle with the sauce for 1 minute to coat them. To serve, spoon 1 banana half into 4 long bowls with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Use a spoon to evenly distribute the sauce between the bowls.
