Sandwiches “Gelato Chocolato”

Ingredients:

  • 220 g milk chocolate, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp almond extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon fine salt
  • 6 - 8 small buns, cut each in half
  • Whipped cream, for serving (optional)

Preparation:

  1. Place the milk chocolate and cocoa powder in a blender. Pour 2 cups of water into a saucepan and add the sugar. Place on the stove and heat, stirring, until the sugar dissolves.

    Pour the hot sugar syrup into a blender; cover and pulse 4-5 times until smooth. Add salt, vanilla, and almond extract; stir. Transfer the mixture to a bowl, cover, and refrigerate for 2 hours.
  2. Stir the chocolate mixture, then place it in an ice cream maker and freeze according to the manufacturer's instructions. Transfer the ice cream to an airtight container and freeze for 2 hours.
  3. Fill the buns with chocolate ice cream and cream.
