Smoked pork shoulder in the oven

Ingredients:

    Pork

  • 1 pork neck and shoulder cut weighing 2.3 kg.
  • 4 tbsp. l. homemade seasoning, see recipe below
  • 2 tbsp. seasoned salt
  • 4 tbsp liquid smoke
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup of water
  • 3 bay leaves
  • Barbecue sauce, for serving

    Homemade seasoning

  • 1 tbsp. salt
  • 1/4 cup black pepper
  • 1/4 cup garlic powder

Preparation:

  1. Preheat oven to 175°C.
  2. Sprinkle one side of the shoulder with 2 tablespoons of homemade seasoning and rub thoroughly. Flip the meat over and rub the other side with the remaining 2 tablespoons of homemade seasoning. Repeat with seasoned salt and liquid smoke.
  3. Place the pork in a large roasting pan. Add the onion, water, and bay leaf. Place in the oven and roast for 2.5-3 hours, or until a meat thermometer inserted into the oven reads 165°F (76°C). Let the pork cool for a few minutes, then slice.

    Homemade seasoning: Mix ingredients and store in an airtight container for up to 6 months.
