Soft pretzels made from pizza dough

topcook.tomathouse.com

Ingredients:

  • 1 tube chilled pizza dough (400 g)
  • 2 tbsp. soda
  • 0.5 cup grated Parmesan + extra for serving
  • 1 tbsp. l. dried oregano
  • 1 tbsp. sesame seeds
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon coarse salt
  • 0.5 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
  • Marinara sauce for filing

Preparation:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and spray with cooking spray.
  2. Cut the pizza dough widthwise into 8 strips. Roll each piece into a 45 cm long rope. Form the rope into a pretzel shape, twisting the ends together in the center. Repeat with the remaining dough strips.
  3. In a large bowl, mix baking soda with 2 cups of hot water. Using a slotted spatula, lower the pretzel into the mixture and remove it. Place the pretzel on a baking sheet. Repeat with the remaining pretzels.
  4. In a small bowl, combine the Parmesan, oregano, sesame seeds, garlic powder, salt, and red pepper flakes. Sprinkle the mixture generously over the pretzels.
  5. Bake until golden brown, 18–20 minutes. Sprinkle the pretzels with Parmesan cheese and serve warm with marinara sauce for dipping.
