Ingredients:
- 600 g of minced pork
- 4 slices of bacon, chopped
- 4 slices Swiss cheese
- 4 hamburger buns, separated and toasted
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 1 tsp hot sauce or more to taste
- 1 teaspoon of sugar
- 0.5 tsp red wine vinegar, plus extra for the salad
- 2 tsp olive oil, plus extra for salad
- 1 head of romaine lettuce, thinly sliced
- 2 medium tomatoes (1 sliced, 1 crushed)
Preparation:
- Caramelize the baconCook the bacon in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat until lightly crisp, 5 minutes. Drain the fat from the skillet, add the onion, and cook, stirring, until browned, 10 minutes (add a little water if the onion burns). Stir in the hot sauce, sugar, red wine vinegar, and salt and pepper to taste.
- Form the ground meat into 4 6-cm-wide patties, season with salt and pepper. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat, then add the patties and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side, topping each with a slice of cheese about 3 minutes before the end of the cooking time.
- Divide the bacon among the buns and top each with lettuce leaves, a patty, a tomato slice, and a second bun on top.
Drizzle the remaining romaine lettuce and sliced tomato with olive oil and vinegar, season with salt and pepper, and toss to combine. Serve with burgers.
