Chili and Cheese Fries

Ingredients:

  • 1 package (800-900 g) of frozen ribbed French fries
  • 1 teaspoon coarse salt + more to taste
  • 3 tbsp. l. olive oil
  • Half an onion, chopped
  • 1 clove of garlic, grated
  • 3 tbsp. chili powder
  • 1 tbsp. l. ground cumin
  • 450 g of ground beef with 20% fat content
  • 2 tbsp. quality marinara sauce
  • 1 can (425 g) cheese sauce for nachos
  • 3 green onions, sliced ​​diagonally
  • 1/4 cup pickled jalapeño rings

Preparation:

  1. Line a baking sheet with foil. Place the fries in a single layer on the baking sheet. Bake according to package directions. Season with salt.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large cast-iron skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Add the garlic, chili powder, and cumin and cook until fragrant, 1-2 minutes.
  3. Add the ground beef, salt, and a few grinds of black pepper and cook, breaking up the ground beef, until browned, 8-10 minutes. Add the marinara sauce and toss to coat. Cook for another 5 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  4. Heat the nacho cheese sauce until heated through. Top the fries with the nacho and cheese sauces and garnish with green onions and jalapeño slices.
