Macaroni and Bacon Sandwich

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups macaroni and cheese, recipe included
  • 8 slices village white bread, spread with butter
  • 4 slices of cheese
  • 8 thick slices smoked bacon, crisped
  • 2 Roma tomatoes, sliced ​​into 0.6cm thick rounds (optional)
  • Hot sauce (optional)

    Mac and Cheese

  • 250g of pasta in the form of horns, the recipe follows
  • 3 tbsp (45 g) butter
  • 3 tbsp. flour
  • 3 cups of milk
  • 250 g processed cheese
  • 1.5 tbsp. coarsely grated mature cheddar
  • A little hot sauce or a pinch of cayenne pepper

Preparation:

  1. Spread the macaroni and cheese evenly in an 8 x 8 inch (20 x 20 cm) square baking dish. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate until firm, about 1 hour. Cut into macaroni and cheese into 4 equal squares.
  2. Preheat the griddle over medium heat. Place a square of pasta on each slice of bread. Top with 1 slice of cheese and 2 slices of bacon. Top with a second slice of bread and grill the sandwiches until hot and golden brown, about 4 minutes per side. Repeat with the remaining ingredients. Serve.
  3. For an adult version, dip the tomatoes in hot sauce and place them on top of the bacon before grilling the sandwiches.

    Easy Macaroni and Cheese Recipe


    Cook the pasta in a large pot of boiling salted water until al dente and drain in a colander.

    Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Whisk in the flour quickly and continue stirring for a couple of minutes until the floury taste and lumps disappear. Stir in the milk, bring to a simmer, and cook over medium heat until thickened, about 5 minutes. Stir in the processed cheese and cheddar, allowing it to melt. Add the hot sauce and pasta. Season with salt and pepper.
