Ingredients:
- 350 g ready beef
- 4 thick slices sourdough bread
- 700 g of potatoes
- 4 tbsp (60 g) butter
- 1 cup or less milk
- 1/2 medium onion, sliced into rings
- 3 tbsp. flour
- 2.5 tbsp. chicken broth low salt
- 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 3 tablespoons mustard
- 1 tbsp. prepared horseradish
- 1/2 bunch watercress, tough stems removed
- 1/4 cup chopped parsley
Preparation:
- Pierce the potatoes and microwave on high power until tender, about 20 minutes. Using a fork, mash the potatoes in a bowl with 2 tablespoons (30 g) of butter. Add the milk and puree; season with salt and pepper.
- Meanwhile, melt the remaining 2 tablespoons (30 g) butter in a skillet over high heat. Add the onion and cook until soft, about 4 minutes. Stir in the flour and cook until lightly browned.
Gradually whisk in the chicken broth until smooth. Stir in the Worcestershire sauce and simmer until thickened, about 3 minutes.
- Preheat the oven.
Toast the bread in the broiler for about 1 minute. Spread mustard and horseradish on the toasts; place each on a plate. Drizzle a little sauce over the toast; top with the beef and more sauce, watercress, and parsley. Season with salt and pepper.
- Arrange the beef sandwiches on plates, top with mashed potatoes, and pour gravy over the entire dish.
